Thanks for your post Sarah!

I agree with you. Dunn's low average, high power bat did not carry the D'Backs into the post season and with their loss last night, he can start making tee times for Oct. 2.

Nice to see Joe Torre in the postseason wearing Dodger blue.

guess I'm kinda late to the party with this one, but it looks like Dunn didn't do much for the D'backs after all...shame, that.

Which is scary being he is only 22 which means by the time he is 26 we could be looking at another adam dun with a better average.

I watched him pretty closely in a series against my hapless Mariners. His swing is still pretty big and he is culpable to breaking pitches out of the strike zone. I did see a couple refreshing things, however.

First, he lined a couple balls hard into right field for hits (one went for an RBI double). His ability to use the entire field has been a major factor to his success this season.

Second, the Angels played him at SS for two of the games. If he remains at SS, he will be a star. If he is moved to 3B (which is probably more likely) he will be a good player. His range at SS seems to be adaquate for the position. He made a nice play deep in the hole and threw out a runner with his strong arm.

Long term, it's hard to say what we will see of Wood. His 3 BB/39 K ratio with the Angels is abysmal, time will tell if he is able to turn it around. He is only 23 and is still a promising prospect.

Brandon Wood is actually looking pretty good. He might not be star but he's gonna be at least a solid player some day.

'95 is such a far cry from today's current atrocity which is the Seattle Mariners organization. I will definitly check out your site and reminisce about the days of old when teal was the "in" color.

Thanks for the comment!

I came across this list doing a random search for Mariners history. I too was an A's fan on the wrong side of that Gibson homer, and it's still hard to believe those A's teams got just the one title in '89. But Edgar's double is a much happier memory. I have a website going that remembers the Mariners '95 season, the shift from going to Florida to nearly reaching the World Series and asks the fans to put their own stories up to the site. I figure anyone else who ranks that double #1 might be curious to check out the site. (By the way, I'm one of those guys who grew up a ravenous baseball card collector in the late '80s, but then fell away from the habit completely in the early '90s.)
