Josh Hamilton—Home Run Derby Performance for the Ages

28 HR’s in the 1st round, including several over 500 ft.  Spaces that had never been touched by a ball in the hallowed history of Yankee Stadium were battered by a barrage of moonshots from the Rangers slugger.

Watching the contest with my wife and son, I (as were they) was captivated by the humble joy that Hamilton exuded with each cannon blast.  Here was a man that just a few years ago was heavily addicted to heroin, homeless, and destitute.  By the grace of God, Hamilton met his wife (a pastor’s daughter) who adopted Josh as a part of her family, restoring him and encouraging him to become the man that he was meant to be.

Thank you Josh for an incredible evening that exudes what is good and pure about the game of baseball.  After tonight, I think your fan base has grown exponentially and your legend has begun.
