BUY/SELL Analysis

Noonan's still just a teen

Silky smooth and sweet swinging Nick Noonan was a supplimental 1st round pick by the San Francisco Giants in the ’07 draft.  Noonan is very toolsy with good strike zone judgement and a line-drive swing, but he has had trouble working counts at Augusta this season walking just 15 times vs. 82 K’s.  Noonan has performed very well on the basebaths successfully stealing 26 bases in 29 tries.  Noonan has 1st year  autographed cards in several products including Bowman Chrome Draft, Bowman Sterling, and Donruss Elite Extra.  Noonan’s chrome autos are the most popular selling for $15-18 each, but his Sterlings and Elites sell consistently for less at about $7.50-10.00 each.

Market Advice: Scouts seem to love Noonan’s tools, with some comparing him to Chase Utley and Robin Ventura.  He has hit Low-A pitching well, .286, but his increase in K’s this season and struggle with working counts is somewhat of a concern with me.  Noonan is very young and has the talent to turn these issues around.  Therefore, I would say that his Sterling and Donruss Elite autos are a decent BUY for under $10, but his chrome autos are less attractive unless they drop into the $12 range.
